Drug Free!

This week at school the kids dressed up in support of being Drug Free! I only took pictures today, because today was Aristocat or paint on your whiskers day. Hayden is usually all for dressing up, but I was wondering what he would think of being a cat. I was right he has finally hit that age when you think to yourself hmmm I think I'd look like a goof if I was wearing kitty whiskers. Hayden loves bugs, worms, etc. He is always trying to save hurt animals. This ladybug was hurt and so he brought her home to save her.
Kara likes to go all the way and follow all the rules with her costume. They were not allowed to wear actual costumes, but could dress in clothes that looked like a cat. She was so excited to dress like a black cat. She wore her black leotard, because she did not own a black shirt. She was a little worried that that might be considered a costume, but when she tried it on she decided it was loose enough to be considered clothes.

Halle was riding along with Kelton and he sped out into the rocks he then turned around and said to her, "I'm a scary driver. Are you scared riding with me Halle?"
Kara really talked the Kitten day up to Kelton. She was insistent that he be the Orange Aristocat and kept showing him how to prrr just right. He thought it sounded fun, but I think he was a little hesitant. I think in his mind he was thinking should I be listening to her or is this gonna be one of those times where all of a sudden I'm dressed like a princes, or a ballerina. He did wear whiskers and when asked if he wanted to wear kitten ears like Kara he thought for a moment, almost as if he was going to say yes, but then thought better of it and said no! It was funny because he put on his neck scarf/hat that covers half his face, and when we got to the school he pulled it up over his face. I was wondering if he kept that scarf on all day.
Halle wanted to join in to, but she wanted her whole face painted like a Zebra! I thankfully talked her into a flower!
Halle thankful for Kelton to play with!
Always on the look out for bugs.
Kelton glad to sort of be the boss for at least a couple hours!

Pumpkin Patch 2009!

A little update on our annual trip to the pumpkin patch! The kids love the pumpkin patch. My camera was acting up and making me so mad. I finally had to just put it away it was driving me so crazy, so I did not really get all the pictures I wanted to!
It is funny how the simplest little things can be so much fun, even when your 10!

Proof that I was at the pumpkin patch making the same dumb face I always make. I guess that is what I look like, ugh!! Actually Brent was trying to get the camera to work too. Sometimes it is good to be a little blurry!!
Every picture I took of Kara focused on the background! She looks cute blurry or clear(:
Brent should have never grown up! He loves to play with the kids! They of course think he is the greatest! He'll never pass up time to bounce, chase, tackle, tickle, dance, or throw the kids! What a great daddy!
Hayden showing off his roping skills! Brent tried to rope me too and hit me right on the head! Let me tell you those ropes hurt! My head is still sore in the spot where I got hit. I seriously was feeling sorry for the animals. I really am not sure that rodeo thing is a humane sport anymore!
Halle roping herself!
Figuring things out a little bit!
I have to say I am all about the food so of course we had some homemade Donuts, not even close to as good as the ones at the Seattle Market. We also had some Kettle Corn, not as good as the Albertson guy (I don't know how that guy does it, but his Kettle Corn is good). We also got lost in the corn maze like usual, but at least it was not freezing cold! The kids begged and begged to go into the haunted house. I kept telling them that it was scary, but they did not care! We did not let them. I think Brent actually might have taken them, but the fact that the line was forever long and it cost extra kep him think clearly! I think it would have scared the pants off them. I absolutely hate anything scary!!!! So there is a tid bit of the fun we have been having!!
Fight Update

After talking with Kelton's teacher I found out that this little boy has been out of control and no one knows what to do with him. Brent was talking to Kelton again about fighting. We were telling him that fighting is the last resort. Brent than went on to say, "but if the person is not backing down" ... Kelton chimes in with "then you can use your stuff!" I really thought Kelton would be the last person to jump into a fight. He has been my little boy that refused to play sports, is very shy, hates to be the center of attention, loves to cuddle and squeeze people, and always one to avoid any kind of confrontation. Don't mess with the Keltonators friends(:

No FIGHTING For Real!

I'm cleaning the kitchen when I hear Hayden telling Kara, "Kelton got beat up at school today!" So of course I am like "Wait a minute here back up what did you just say?" Hayden, "Kelton got beat up at school today!" Me "Kelton did you get beat up at school?" Kelton "Yeah mom, but it is O.K. everyone was chanting, GO Kelton, Go Kelton!" I'm thinking I can't believe my sweet little boy is getting beat up at school WHERE IS THE DUTY(: (I think it is funny calling the playground police THE DUTY!) So then Hayden chimes in with "Kelton was winning, but than he got pushed down on the ground and the boy started kicking him while he was on the ground and then Kelton started to cry and the other boy ran off." O.K. now I am horrified, my jaw is on the floor, the part about getting kicked while he was on the ground and then him crying, I'm really thinking this should not be happening in kindergarten! Kelton can tell I am stunned and so chimes in with, "it hurt real bad mom, but it's O.K. because everyone was yelling "Go Kelton"" Now I am really delving into details on how this fight began and I'm thinking why is big brother Hayden watching and not stopping this!!! So here is the whole story. Kelton tells me that the little boy (and his little gang of friends) that beat him up had been ganging up on his friend, B (Kelton's friend is twice the size of Kelton and is in 2nd grade, but is like a big Teddy Bear) the boy was kicking B(name changed to protect the innocent (: ). in the shins and calling him names. Kelton told him to stop and then jumped on the boys back to stop him from bullying his friend and there is how it all began. Now I'm thinking "ugh my child kind of started the fight." I'm glad that he is standing up to a bully, but I don't want him fighting. So we are trying to think of better ways to handle a bully. I suggested maybe getting a teacher, and Hayden chimes in with "that will definitely get you beat up!" Kara comes up with writing a note to the bully. So here is the note Kara wrote for Kelton to give to the bully! I am afraid this note might cause Kelton to get beat up again.

I love the FOR REAL part. I also like Eloise in the front row she always yells from the bus as Kelton gets off something sweet like "love your hair cut Kelton" or "BYE Kelton" or "Have a great day Kelton" Who would'nt just love a girl named Eloise. The way Kelton says her name is so freaking cute too. Sometimes I ask him who she is just to hear him say her name.
Hayden with his good friend

Hayden told me he only arrived at the very end of the fight and so it was over before he could stop the fight. I really hate bullying and have had many discussions with my kids about not just standing around watching someone get bullied. I really want the good kids to look around and be aware of bullying so that we can stop things like this from happening. We go to a really good school with nice little kids so I know the bully's are the minorities so it really would not take much to completely stop these kids from gaining power from bullying. So theres my little spill for the day! Happy Saturday(:

Kind Kara and Oops I did it again Halle!

So over the past few days my little Kara had been picked on on the bus. The little girl she sat by made her sit on the floor and then when she tried to get up she gave Kara an Indian burn. The little girl actually lives across the street so Kara's brave Mom(didn't want to be brave, but trying to confront my own fears) walked across the street with Kara(who was feeling brave until we reached the door, and then tried to melt into her surroundings by hiding behind the pillar and then me) and talked to the girls older sister about the incident (since the mom does not speak English) . All went well! We also had a talk with her wonderful bus driver Jim! I think Jim is one of the best bus drivers! He moved Kara to a nice spot on the bus away from the two girls that had picked on her and has been keeping an eye out for her. So I went into school to help and Kara's teacher pulled me aside and told me how Kara and her friend had been really kind to a boy in the other class who had been picked on. I guess no one would play with him at recess and when he had tried to play soccer with some of the boys they had told him he couldn't play because he was not good at soccer! Kara and her friend invited him to play with them and then the next day made him a card and attached a treat to it! The teacher in the other class had said what a difference it had made and that the little boy was so happy all day at school and had done better than he had ever done in class.
Kara received a nice note from the teacher and a Super Star from the principal for friendliness! We are so happy that Kara is being kind to others. There's nothing better than when your child does loving acts of Kindness. Later I heard the little boy had really had been having a hard time with his behavior in the class room and this little act of kindness by Kara and her friend had changed his attitude in the class.

So if you ever wonder what I do when I get done doing what needs to be done, well this is it! Halle, "Mom can I have some oatmeal? OOPS I didn't mean too."

Evidence of the disasters I take care of daily(: Yes Halle is a little embarrassed!

The clean-up. Cleaning up was a little more fun than it was suppose to be. Of course it wasn't all fun we had a little arguing over who got to vacuum!

Why Why Why Why Why???????????????

So lately I have been trying to answer my 3 year olds questions very completely to limit the number of Why's after the question has been asked! Kelton and Halle getting a little slide time in!
Always fun to load up the slide with bark and then slide into the bark at the bottom of the slide? I should ask HAllE WHY this is so much fun(:

So today Halle was asking me about Why her cousin was sick and I had told her about the flu bug etc. (I won't go into detail because there were numerous WHY's). So tonight before she went to bed she asked me "Mom is Mkenna coming to play after ballet?" I said, "No probably not tomorrow because her brother is sick?" Halle, "Why? Did he eat a peanut?" Me, "No" Halle before I can answer, "Did he get the flu bug?" Me happy my earlier sickness description was worth all the whys, "Yes he has the flu bug." Halle, "Was it a ladybug?"
O.K. so my flu bug story was not as understood as I thought! Actually I love all the Why's! They keep me laughing all the time, and make me realize how little I know about everything!!

Cherish the moments

4 years ago these 2 men were bouncing around at Kara's 3rd Birthday Party. I love this picture of them holding party balloons! They both seemed so healthy and energetic I thought for sure they would still be here today! Every time I see a picture of my Uncle Lynn I think of him playing the Entertainer on the piano and all 7 of us kids dancing and being crazy!
These long lost photos were just found on Brent's computer! I couldn't believe how much everyone had changed.

I liked this one of Harold giving little Kelton a balloon!

Halle was so distraught over this picture! She really could not understand why she was not in the picture. She said, "Mom where is Halle?" I tried to explain that she was in heaven. She then said, "I don't want to be in heaven I want to be there with you! Why am I in heaven and not with you?"

This was one of my favorite pictures of Kelty! Halle said, "Can I please hold Kelton, Mom!" She thought he was so cute! I wanted to hold him again too!!!
Kelton and Reggie doing a little Jig! They still love to blast the piano and dance! Time goes by too quickly! I remember thinking I wanted this moment to last forever!
Halle said, "Mom why is Kara wearing my coat, and shoes?"

Kara and Kelton have been best buddies and always look out for each other. Halle said again, "Is that my car? Why are they driving my car?" She's not grasping the hammy down thing yet!
Last look into the past! I remember taking about 100 pictures of the three of them, trying to get at least one of them all looking at the camera. You can tell Hayden was soooo done with me taking pictures! I wish you could see Kelton's little Sunday suit. Everyone gave me the hardest time for putting him in this little sailor suit. They thought it was sooooo girly, but I loved it!
Four years really does not seem that long ago, but when I looked at this old group of photos and remembered those that had passed and the memories created it was a real reminder to me to Cherish the moments!

Interesting Analysis

Kara asks Brent, "dad how come your hair always looks the same even when you have just woken up?" Hayden then asked, "were you born with it like that?" Brent, "yes". Hayden, "so you've always looked like Elvis?" I knew Brent was trying to emulate Elvis's dance moves and spandex jumpsuit style, but I had no idea that the hairdo was also influenced by the king of rock.

The other day Brent said something about Rambo and Halle said, "Who is Rambo?" Hayden answered up with "he is a half-naked man who is skilled in weaponry." I thought the half-naked man thing was an interesting description.
