Youth Halloween Party!

Back to the 80's We had a Combined Young men and Young Women Halloween party at my house!!

These leos were my mom's workout clothes! Jen the crazy girl to the right of me is my partner in crime. We spent 4 days solid just me and her taping, hammering, and laughing as we set up the backyard for the party. We did a spook alley down the side yard. I wish I would have gotten better pictures, because it turned out really cool. I just got so busy. The four days prior to the party it was a rainy windy mess outside. Every time we tried to set something up the wind would blow it right down. Jen took horrible pictures of me balancing on top of the fence (she talked me into wearing the leo over my clothes while we set up to get us in the mood) trying to nail the tarp down. She laughed at me the whole time. I felt like my sister Natalie was with me because that is what she does (laugh at me while I am in a precarious situation).

We did an American Idol type theme and taught the kids the dance thriller. Me and the three other girls in the picture were the special guest that night that taught the girls thriller. Then Randy, Simon, Paula, and Zombie Ryan Seecrest (Brent) judged the kids as they performed. We also set up a big screen in the backyard with the actual Micheal Jackson thriller playing.

I tried to snap off some quick pictures. My boys, Natalie's boys and Jen's boys were Zombies in the Spook Alley. They thought it was lots of fun. We also had some scary leaders in their too.

Here are a few more not so great pictures!

The kids watching the thriller on the big screen. We divided them into two groups and taught them the dance inside the house. I seriously don't know how they learned anything from the 3 of us (Jen, Me, and Heidi) we were horrible.

One of the leaders. I thought this was just a funny picture!

The patio! We also served up some spooky looking snacks!
I'm kind of in a boring mood. I think the party was more fun than my boring description, but who knows when I'll be in a less boring mood. I don't feel like proofing this either so sorry to anyone who reads this before I feel like going back and reading what I wrote.

R-E-S-P-E-C-T

The character for this month at school was Respect. My little Kelton and Kara both were chosen! I'm so happy that they are being respectful at school!
They choose one child from each class each month that is displaying one of the 9 character traits.

How cool is it that Kara, George (cousin), and Kelton were all chosen from their classes!

Here Kara and Kelton are in front of the board where their pictures were also displayed. They honored the kids at the assembley. Great job to Kara, Kelton, and Georgie!!

Saturdays

Before it got cold! Kelton taught Halle how to play tether ball!

She giggled the whole time!

Kelton told me today "Mom most kids favorite thing is P.E., but my favorite thing at school are the books, because you get to keep them for a whole week and then sometimes they have these things called book fairs and then you get to keep the books forever!"

Kara was a big help teak oiling the patio furniture. I never last very long at things like painting. It always looks like fun and I do like the smell, but I never want to finish and if I do finish I end up doing a bad job because I go to fast. I finished my chair really fast and Brent had to do a thorough examination of my teak job, because he couldn't believe I finished my chair in half the time it took him to do his chair. Good thing it was just teak oil or it would have looked terrible. I don't know what that says about me. I guess I should never be a painter, because I'd probably just end up a druggie laying around sniffing paint.

Pumpkin Patch Tradition!

The kids were sooooooo excited to go to the Pumpkin Patch! The line to get in was forever long and Kara almost peed her pants! All the bathrooms were inside!

Brent decided the kids were old enough to go to the Field of Screams this year, and boy were they excited! I still think they are to young, but no one is listening to me, except Halle! Halle and I opted out!

Hayden and Halle. Hayden likes being a big brother.
Halle jumping on the pillow.

Halle and I riding the tractor ride. I was trying to do that thing where you take a picture of yourself. The guy pulling the tractor saw me and offered to take a picture for us. Actually this ride was pretty fun. I always thought it looked kind of boring, but it is pretty fun. He went in circles and went over some bumps. I did figure out to keep my arms outside the wagon or your arms kind of get bumped around which hurts a lot.
This is the kids coming out of the field of screams which was not scary at all according to them. Kara did, however, trip and fall hitting her head on a board and getting a little goose egg. Kelton also fell while running from the chain saw guy, but I guess he jumped up quick and booked it out of there leaving Brent and Kara in the dust! They weren't scared at all!
They really wanted me to go, but only because they wanted me to scream and get scared! Hayden and Brent really want me to go. I hate scary things, even when it isn't scary.

Bouncing! This is where I try to limit my picture taking, but am unsuccessful yet again.
The kids wanted me to get on to, but I had to pee, and I hate Porto potties. Also it was pitch black in the Porto potties. Very scary! I can't jump even when I don't have to pee.

Brent doesn't have the pee problem! No fair!
It's hard to get everyone in the picture, but here they all are, even Hayden (he's the guy with the orange sweat shirt).
Before we went to the pumpkin patch the kids made me search the house for Halloween shirts. I didn't buy any this year so we had to go through the too small bins. Good thing they don't grow much.

Brent usually wears an orange shirt for Halloween, but don't worry he never will wears a sports team, because he thinks it is only cool to dress up for Holidays(;
Hot!
Bunnies!
Horses!
Feeding time!
Animals always make the kids beg for a pet! Please oh please can we have a dog????? Brent told the kids they could have a dog, but then all we will be able to afford to eat is dog food. They agreed to just eat dog food!!! Yeah right, I can't even get them to eat people food!
Kelton was dying to sit in this big chair!
As usual I strip the kids in the garage and throw them into the bath after the event. I love clean kids. Brent thinks I should work at an ultra sanitary environment maybe NASA or where they make computer chips and they can't have any kind of dust or germs. Who doesn't love to go to bed clean?
One tradition checked off the list! Just kidding, kind of! It does kind of seem like that sometimes. I think I'll sit my kids down and warn them before they start their traditions. Remember once you start doing something your children will expect it forever, so make sure to set their expectations low or they'll always be disappointed. I don't know if that is a good thing, but it is kind of true.

Kelton Bottoms up at Grandma's

Here are some pictures my mom sent me of Kelton and his little friends while they were at her house! I'm going to paste what she wrote to me as I was not there.
Natalie just called about the bee catcher pictures and it reminded me of how funny they were. They came and asked me for a jar to catch a bee. I had been in the garden and noticed that there were dozens of bees hovering around my marigolds. I said “you can catch the bees but only if you release them after a few minutes because honey bees are good and we need them. I don't want them dying in a jar.” They all agreed that they would release the bees. It turns out that catching the bee takes great caution, but releasing the bee is SCARY as heck. When they took the lid off and the bee came flying out the first time they were all screaming and running for their lives. Sooo funny. Just had to share. Mom

The boys were out in the backyard and then came in to quench their thirst over apple grape juice poured out of the cow pitcher! (They much watch to much T.V. as they immediately started toasting eachother and acting drunk). Boys.........you gotta love em!!!!

Bottoms up!
