Catch up!

I'm not sure what I'm catching up on, but I am catching up.  That probably only makes sense to me.  So I'm going to try to post all the pictures from December through January from my phone and from Brent's phone too.  My good camera has been acting up so I haven't been able to take pictures like I would like to.  I love a good picture.  I think if I could do anything I would be a photo journalist.  You know someone that travels  around the world taking pictures and then documenting your journey.  You would have to be able to take your family along of course or it probably wouldn't be as fun.  Anyways if you get a bunch of pictures from me today you'll know that I've accomplished my goal for my day off.  The kids don't like me to blog or be on the computer when they are home so there is not much time to catch up.  They do however love to look back at the pictures so it's still worth it to me, and there just is something that makes me feel good about writing down what we've been doing.

Lets see Hayden tried out for a play recently and is going to be a Sailor in it.  He was not too hip on trying out, but I think he's glad hes doing it especially because his cousins and friends are in it too.  He has been playing Lacrosse and really enjoys it.  He is also taking piano from one of his friends which is really motivating and more fun for him.  We also decided to get him a phone so he did not have to call us  from his friends phones anymore and I was also having a hard time relaying texts I was getting from his friends inviting him places while I was working. One day he missed the bus and was locked outside the school.  I thought he  had actually gone inside the school and called me from the office.  This was one of my reasons for not getting him a phone.  I said it was better that he went into the school and called me from the office rather than wandering around the school on his phone.  Later I found out that the office was actually closed and he had borrowed one of his friends phones to call us.  So my theories were slowly loosing ground.  I also don't think I have time to be his personal secretary.   Neither Brent or I are very good at answering our phones so now you finally have someone you can call that will answer the phone at the Hucks home..........Mr. Hayden Hucks.  "Hello this is Hayden"  He cracks me up.  He always answers the phone that way......."Hello this is Hayden"  as if his own mother didn't know she called him.  He is very responsible and received straight A's and won Second in some 7th grade spelling contest that he did not know he was in.  I don't know how I got such a responsible kid.

Kara Kara Kara!!  She is going through that roll your eyes kind of sassy faze which can be rather challenging at times, and that emotional faze where everything you say is mean.  I don't know I think it's a girl thing.  She is very good most of the time, and is always keeping our house clean.  She always notices when things are cleaned up and put away and states, "I love it when its all clean."  She organizes and cleans and fusses over the messes of her siblings.  She hates the sound of boys peeing in the toilet.  She says it makes her think of pee splattering all around the toilet and it grosses her out.  She loves singing and is constantly sitting at the piano filling our house with music, which of course I love.  She just started gymnastics and loves it.  She is trying hard to do the splits and practices every night and day.  It is very painful for a very unlimber girl.  She has 13 inches to go.  Her legs are very sore.  She also received straight A's and is taking piano from Hayden's friend.  She would like a harder teacher, but the harder teachers around here are expensive, so she will just have to challenge herself.  Kara is a very hard worker and loves math.  She wishes school was harder.  I know its weird, but she does.  She asks me how to spell words and then double checks with Hayden to make sure I'm right.  She also loves to talk and can talk and talk and talk and talk and talk and talk She has several good stories to tell and has also lost a few more teeth.  She has just started pulling them out herself.  She still is routing for a new baby or a puppy.

Kelton my little Keltonator.  What would we do with out him.  He's my little thinker.  Always the ponderer.  He ponders on life and just about everything.  The other day in the car Kelton said to Brent, "Every time this song comes on it makes me feel like crying, because I think about the words and then I just get so sad."  Then he said, "but Kara told me its just a song Kelton it's not real and so now I don't get so sad."  Kelton tries hard to make good choices.  He loves Scouts.  He loves to run on running day at the school and has lots of points.  He said he is in first place with the most laps.  There is someone else that sometimes has run more than him he says.  He practices the splits with Kara and plays with Halle.  He tags along with Hayden and his friends a lot too.  He loves a good adventure, but would rather not be the center of attention.  He's the guy in the back that everyone loves.  He's the funny guy that no one knows is funny.

Halle our little spunky monkey for sure.  She loves girl things and wants to own a Salon when she gets big.  She loves to have her hair done and loves to have me pick her clothes out before school.  Everything is exciting to her.  She wants to go go go.  The other day she said, "Mr Pfaf (her teacher) gave us way to much homework for a sunny day!"  Obviously we have been having lots of cold weather.  Halle loves to sing too and makes up song after song after song.  Kara walks around videoing her in hopes of publishing one of her songs someday.  Her songs are actually pretty good.  I don't know where she comes up with all the words.  The other day we went to get an ice cream and she was so excited about the ice cream she just could not stop bouncing up and down in front of the ice cream window.  It was very cute.  I wish I got that excited about ice cream.  She doesn't love school as much, but she does love the Monkey Bars.  Her favorite subject at school is the Monkey Bars.  She even wheres special gloves when its cold outside so she can get a good girp on those monkey bars.  We've had many bloody palms from those monkey bars.

Brent has been working from home and doing a great job keeping up with all the house maintenance.  He does a great job making 4 kids that do not eat sandwiches or hot lunch, lunches every morning.  He cuts up fruit and makes something for their thermos every day.  I use to do it so I know how hard it is.  He keeps the kitchen clean and helps the kids with their homework.  He takes the kids to the park and plays with them while he's there.  He chases them and actually has a good time too.  The other day at the park all the parents were just watching their kids play until they saw Brent really playing with his kids and then it sort of motivated them to get up and interact with their kids too.  This is one reason I think it's so important to always do your best because it motivates others to be better too.  I'm constantly preaching to my kids about not lowering their standards, but raising their standards it motivates everyone to be kinder, try harder, and be better.  When someone is kind to you it makes you want to do something nice, when someone is unkind it makes you want to do something mean.  It really is hard to turn the other cheek and not lower your standards.  When someone is working hard you want to work hard too.  When others are lazy it's hard to keep working and not indulge in idleness.  Anyways that is my rant for the day.

I've been working a lot, but I actually enjoy it most of the time.  There are always those days that are not great, but for the most part I enjoy it.  I've been moved around a lot so its fun to learn new things that way I don't get bored.  I like to be busy so it has been good.  There's always things to organize too so of course I like that aspect of it.  I like trying to keep things organized and neat even if its just a small area.  I'm sure I rant really for my own sake, because when I'm at work I work with all sorts of different people (lazy, mean, nice, hardworking, thought full, proud, humble,  ignorant, rude, polite, condescending, etc.)  It reminds me of the type of person I want to be.
